Are you kidding me????? Are we really in 2010? And near the end of January at that????
I only got a 2010 calendar last week (could explain the two appointments I missed at the beginning of January....and I am NOT an appointment misser...what the heck happened????) My delay in getting the calendar has not stopped us from being full on, non-stop, on the go. On top of the kids after school swimming and tennis lessons, this week brings us 7 nights in a row where one or both of us have something on in the evenings.
Our crazy schedule is nothing new, so what is new for 2010??
Skiing: (the kids both loved it...no fear....Dean was going down the slopes on his own by day two)
Lots and Lots of snow in our part of the world for the first two weeks of January (lots and lots and lots of sledding and three days of canceled school):
Nursery (PreSchool) for Addie: (she LOVES it)
No-Mom-in-the-pool swimming lessons for Addie: (don't mock the swimming cap, it's part of the "uniform" and she thinks it's so cool! and she is a little fish....swims under water, dives to the bottom of the pool for rings, and jumps right into the pool all by herself....she is the youngest in her class and every time the teacher says "Addie can you do XYZ" Addie replies "of course I CAN!")
We have a THREE year old in the house: (can you believe she is three already??)
I'm not a big resolutions person, but we have been thinking about our intentions/goals for the new year and making some plans. (For 2009 one of my big intentions was to compost and I am happy to report that not a single tea bag, potato peel or onion skins gets into our garbage bins....we are totally 100% composter-s.)
This year I am planning.....
*Buy LOCAL foods....parts of this are really hard for me... we are HUGE fruit consumers and eat loads of citrus, mangoes, pineapple, blueberries, etc. I know they taste much much better when they are truly FRESH, but I can't bear the thought of only having them in the summer....and then you run into the problem of what grows locally (NOT citrus, mangoes and pineapples I can assure you.) We are obviously not going to cut these things out, so I am going for local meats and when possible, local vegs and fruit. We have a couple GREAT local farm shops and butchers so the meat should be no problem, it's just planning ahead. I already buy all our poultry at a local farm, so just have to source out the rest. And just because lots of locals eat pheasant and rabbit, does not mean we are going to start :)
*Keep "date nights" sacred....for years now we have tried to do monthly date nights, where it's only the two of us going out. We have only batted about 50% on these....there always seems to be some event or dinner party or occasion that we give into. We had a very fun date night last Saturday so we are starting out good. I have booked our babysitter for the next several months and told her that she must confirm that it's only the two of us going out and if it's not she much cancel on us.....LOL :)
*Consistently run 30++ miles per week....I know many hate to read that, but I love it, it keeps me sane and happy and healthy (with out coffee and running I would probably fall apart at the seams!) I tend to run in spurts though.....loads of miles one week and none the next...for my sanity and the sake of those I live with, I need to be more consistent! *the earphones/ear buds (whatever you call them) for my ipod are WRECKED, so I only had very crackly scratchy music today...not happy about that!
*DISNEYLAND....Euro Disney was great fun last year, so we decided this year we are taking the kids to REAL Disneyland (in California.) It's slated to be a whole Triplett family affair....can you say OUT OF THIS WORLD FUN!! We had it planned for this summer, but it looks like we are going to do it sooner...Magic Kingdom here we come.
*Host Beth Moore's Believing God bible study (starting tomorrow). I did it in the fall on a very very accelerated schedule to see if it would be good for our group and can I just say....WOW....it's amazing. Don't roll your eyes, but it's one of those life changing studies!
I am sure there is lots more we could/should be thinking about for the new year, but that's about all these little fingers have the time for. I made a mental note that if I didn't blog in January I was going to give it up altogether.....guess I am not quite ready to let it go :)
I don't feel like you can ever really "catch up" after taking a long break from blogging, but I will post some Christmas pictures next time...we had such a perfect magical time and got some great pictures.
